Hi watchers! Is this thing on?
Once again I haven't spent much time updating or hanging on dA, but I'd like to let you all know of a brilliant new monthly challenge that I and a friend started recently, called The Crimson Crucible.
We are really happy to have Alex Negrea come and be a guest judge and give critiques to the challenge winner and standouts! It could be you getting a personal crit from Alex.
For Crimson Crucible 1, you will have to design or redesign a Game of Thrones character or environment from one of the main houses of Westeros, and do an illustration of it.

If you guys have heard of the Bloodsports challenges that Dave Rapoza and Dan Warren held for a while on the daggers forum, this is the re-imagining of those days on the Crimson Daggers forum. If you haven't heard of it man you missed out...but you can get involved in something that works to those same ideals!
I don't want to write too much more here, but please go to the blog to get all the info. crimsoncrucible.wordpress.com/…
You can watch the intro stream for challenge 1 here:
Apologies the intro sound is very low, our discussion is loud enough though.
The focus of the challenge is really about hardcore self-development through the course of the challenge, and the community is incredibly supportive.
I hope to see you there!

EDRocks Week 01
So my little experiment in opensource learning has got off to a great start! 45 people registered from at least 10 different countries. 30 submitted their first assignment and got their video critiques. On top of that a further 4 or 5 non-registered folk who took the initiative to do the work and submit before deadline also got a bonus. I decided everybody would get video feedback for their work this week.
I set up a quick website to contain all lessons, demos, streaming times and any info on the course so anybody who stumbles onto it in the future can get almost the same benefit as people in the class, for absolutely no cost. Check it out h
Environment Design Rocks! Free 8 Week Class
Greetings People!
I've been working hard on creating an 8 week long Environment Design class for some time now, and I am happy to say that I am all ready to go.
This course is entirely FREE! Yup you heard me. FREE.
The nearest equivalent I can see on the market is the CGMA environment design courses that are being offered at $US700 per student! Having taken those classes I know they are pretty good, but I can also tell you that I am aiming at offering much more tailored individualised critique and more interactivity than CGMA gives you.
And yeah...again...FREE! There is no catch. I really love teaching, I really love helping people, and I
